A Beginning Post - Feb 4
The primary purpose of this blog will be to record my outdoor adventures and birding trips primarily in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic states region.
Additionally, I especially enjoy visiting our National Parks and National Wildlife Preserves and will post whenever I can about them and encourage everyone to visit and enjoy a Park near you. This year marks the 100 anniversary of the National Park system - get out and see a park near you..
Here is a photo of Mt Rushmore located in South Dakota taken after the nightly lighting ceremony. I highly recommend a visit to this National treasure and while visiting - plan to attend the lighting ceremony......you will not be disappointed.....it's a wonderful ceremony.
One of the my birding highlights of 2015, was the observation of this Snowy Owl, about 10 miles from my home on December 15 at 3pm in the afternoon.
This Snowy Owl was an immature male that was eventually banded and released after obtaining measurements and documentation. This was only the 2nd Snowy Owl reported in Pennsylvania in 2015 and only the 2nd reported below the St Lawrence Seaway at the time.
I'll end with a photo of the view out the window from my desk...it's always a colorful sunset, especially in the winter when the leaves are off the tree's.
Not all that wander are lost.
